Overview

Latent Rotting Fissure belongs to the Latent Sunder Charms, an upgraded category introduced in Reign of the Warlock that can be enhanced into stronger renewed versions.

Unlike the Original Rotting Fissure, the latent variant is part of a progression system that allows further upgrades through crafting.

Latent Rotting Fissure drops from Heralds in Reign of the Warlock, powerful elite enemies that appear within Terrorized Zones. These are rotating high-level areas where monsters scale with your level and offer improved rewards. Terrorized Zones change regularly or can be activated using Worldstone Shards, making them a core part of endgame farming and progression.

Its effect allows poison-based builds to break enemy poison immunity, enabling damage in areas and encounters that would otherwise be ineffective. Because it reduces the player’s own poison resistance, it requires proper mitigation through gear, resist stacking, or defensive planning.

As part of the Reign of the Warlock upgrades, Latent Rotting Fissure is a key charm for advanced poison builds and long-term progression.

Upgrade (Horadric Cube)

Latent Rotting Fissure can be upgraded into Renewed Rotting Fissure using the following recipe:

Recipe:
Latent Rotting Fissure + Perfect Emerald + Ko Rune
+ Western Worldstone Shard
= Renewed Rotting Fissure

This upgrade path adds long-term value, allowing players to enhance the charm instead of replacing it.

Usage

This charm is especially effective for poison-based builds such as Poison Nova Necromancer or hybrid setups that need to overcome poison immunities. It becomes even more valuable for players planning to craft Renewed Rotting Fissure, since only the latent version can be used in the recipe.
